Turkish Saffron Rice

Basmati rice cooked with onion, garlic and saffron

Turkish Saffron Rice

Ingredients:

2 Pinches Saffron Threads
2 Cups White Basmati Rice
3 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Onion, finely chopped
2 Garlic Cloves, crushed
Salt and Pepper to taste

Method:

  1. Boil rice for 10-15 minutes until cooked, drain well, then allow to cool.
  2. In large frying pan heat 1 tblsp of the olive oil then sauté the onions and garlic until lightly golden.
  3. Add the rice, saffron, 2 tblsp of olive oil, salt and pepper, gently mix well for 5 minutes until rice is completely yellow from the saffron.
  4. Serve immediately.
