Arabian Honey Cake

Vanilla butter cake with honey, cinnamon and almond topping

Arabian Honey Cake

Ingredients:

Cake:
1/3 cup butter, melted
3 eggs
1/2 cup caster sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder

Topping:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup caster sugar
1/3 cup honey
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Method:

  1. Pre heat buttered cake pan in oven to 200c.
  2. Beat the eggs, sugar and vanilla until the mixture whitens then add the melted butter and mix well.
  3. Sift the flour and baking powder together and gently add to the previous mixture.
  4. Pour in the prepared pan and bake 10 to 12 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile preparing the topping - melt the butter on medium heat.
  6. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  7. Pour the topping gently on the cake and return it to the oven for another 15 to 20 minutes.
  8. Serve when the cake has cooled.
