Yemeni Meat and Oatmeal Soup
Spicy beef, onion, garlic and oatmeal soup

Ingredients:
500g Beef
12 Cups Water
1/2 Onion, chopped
1 Tbsp Oil
1 1/2 Cups Oatmeal
1/2 Cup Milk
1/4 Tsp Ground Cloves
1/4 Tsp Ground Cardamom
1/4 Tsp Ground Turmeric
1/4 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/4 Tsp Ground Coriander
1/4 Tsp Ground Cumin
4 Garlic Cloves, crushed
Salt and Pepper to taste
Method:
- In a large saucepan heat the oil then sauté the onions until golden.
- Add water, bring to a boil then add the meat, reduce heat then simmer for 40-60 minutes then add in the oats, garlic and spices.
- Cook for another 40 minutes to an hour, stirring regularly to prevent sticking (add more water as it evaporates to maintain consistency).
- Add the milk then simmer for another 5 minutes then serve.
